Rugged Elegance, LLC is lifestyle media enterprise whose aim is to inspire healthy, adventuresome and soulful living. The mission of Rugged Elegance is to search the globe for people, places, products, performances, prose and photographs that both fit the "rugged elegance" aesthetic and that inspire our audience of like-minded people.

RE: Travel Guides
City-by-city, country-by-country, our focus is on identifying high-end hotels, restaurants, shops and services that not only fit the "rugged elegance" aesthetic, but that also represent the soul of that community. The Places we select and the People behind these places will be promoted both in a series of neighborhood guides and online via RuggedElegance.com. The selected establishments will receive a web presence on RuggedElegance.com. In addition, we will provide further commentary on these establishments at RuggedElegantLiving.com.
Please look this February for our premier edition of The Rugged Elegance Companion: Your Guide To Places of Taste in San Francisco. Twelve neighborhood maps, as well as a guide to the "Hidden Treasures" of the city comprise the Rugged Elegance: San Francisco collection.

Our business is promoting products of every kind, from every culture and every land that we deem to be "rugged elegant."
In addition to our own product line of travel guides, we have created a beautiful aerial map of the city called Rugged Elegance San Francisco. This illustration of the city, commissioned by award-winning designer, Samuel Leshnick, is unlike anything that has been created since the late 1800's. RE: The Inspiration Network
In order to inspire you every day, we have created an online community called The Rugged Elegance Inspiration Network. It is via this Explorer's Journal that we post a compendium of stories, and where we offer our own commentary on the people, places, products, performances, prose and photographs that we have discovered.
Here, you will be introduced to other like-minded people who share a love of adventure, sport, culture, travel, music, art and entertainment. Together we will inspire one another towards healthy, wealthy, wise and soulful living.

Rugged Elegance, LLC is a lifestyle media enterprise run by veteran entrepreneurs, Jennifer Carolyn King and Timothy Charles Fredel. In 1985, King & Fredel founded BioSpace, Inc., which in 1994 became the leading hubsite for the life sciences industry. Eighteen years later, in June 2003, they shifted their focus from "life sciences" to "life." Both have since resigned from the BioSpace Board of Directors to pursue their new venture, another lifelong passion.
King's passion is promoting people. She has developed an art of putting people and places "on the map." Fredel has a passion for technology, and finding creative ways to make it more useful for people. Together they aspire to build a new and unique community that promotes healthy, adventuresome, soulful living.
The goal of Rugged Elegance is to use traditional and online publishing to promote fellow rugged elegant people, as well as places, products, performances, prose and photographs that fit the "rugged elegant" lifestyle.
