All-Seafood Italian Tapas

The European block, known as the French Quarter of San Francisco, has another reason to toast the Italians of the South.

Brindisi Cucina di Mare, on the north side of Belden Place at the corner of Pine is a charming Italian spot that serves small seafood tapas. Fabrizio Protopapa, who was Francis Ford Coppola's Executive Chef at Niebaum Coppola in Palo Alto, has teamed up with Antonio Spinoso known as "The Maestro of Belden Alley."

Brindisi means "Toast" in Italian. Their delicious selection of wines give you many reasons to do just that.

Brindisi is also the name of a town on the coast of the Adriatic Sea.

The San Francisco restaurant serves two dozen small plates of seafood including fried smelts and tagliata di manzo, thin slices of flat-iron steak with a mushroom salad and peppery arugula.

Save room for dessert as they offer classic panna cotta and ice-cream-filled profiteroles.
