Relax In Timeless Tradition

Established in 1913, the PlumpJack Balboa Café continues its tradition as the "in" place to eat, drink and make merry.

The bar -- one of the oldest saloons in San Francisco -- and elegant interior decor remain relatively untouched, retaining the magic of times gone by. Meanwhile, the menu of inventive American cuisine offers both treasured favorites and savory new dishes.

Walk by the Balboa Café on Sunday at noon and you'll catch the aroma of the best Blood Mary's in town. The Balboa burger - served with grilled onions and mushrooms - is our favorite in the city.

On any given day -- for lunch, brunch, cocktails, or dinner -- couples, singles, old-timers and newcomers can be found reveling in the joyful din of this San Francisco icon.

Balboa Café has been selected as one of This Year's Most Rugged Elegant Establishments in historic Cow Hollow.

In Fall 2008, Balboa Café will continue its tradition in a new Mill Valley location.

This establishment has been selected as a San Francisco "place of taste," together with the city's finest hotels, restaurants, shops and services. These establishments are featured both here in RuggedElegance.com and also in a collection of neighborhood-by-neighborhood guides to San Francisco.

When contacting this Select establishment, please let them know that you found them via their profile in Rugged Elegance.
