Jesse Foster is a jazz, R&B, soul and pop singer. He also specializes in instrumental vocal technique to emulate horns and percussive sounds.

Jesse's background in performing spans from the famous Keystone Korner jazz club in San Francisco and stints with Freddy Hubbard in Toronto Canada in the 70's, to performing with Bobby McFerrin and the Jules Brousard Band in the '80's and tours to Japan in 1990 and 1991.

Jesse also performs at private parties and nite clubs. His background in music education includes ten years as a faculty member at the Capp Street Community Music Center. At the Center and through his own workshops he gives private lessons in instumental improvisational vocal technique covering Jazz, pop, soul and R&B with a heavy emphasis on vocal placement technique.

Vocal placement technique deals with singing correctly so that you don't injure your voice. It allows you to place your voice in the head and chest cavity and other areas of your physical body, so you can resonate high and low notes while expanding your lungs. This will give you a greater vocal range with more control and depth.

With his students in San Francisco, Jesse has created the "People's Jazz Performance Workshop." For those interested in joining Jesse's upcoming Jazz and R/B Vocal Workshops, please call 415.292.6973. Applications are being accepted now.

If you are looking to soak up some great jazz in San Francisco, we recommend you spend an evening with Jesse Foster & Company. Look for him at Bistro Yoffi. He usually performs there on the third Thursday of each month.
